Setovi mekane igre: koliko dijelova stvarno treba i od koje dobi

Bamboccini

A 3-element set is enough for a first climber around one year old. From about two, most children have worked out everything a small set can do — that is when 6 and 8 piece sets start earning their space.

Buying by piece count rather than by price is the difference between a set used every day and one pushed into a corner after a month.

By stage, not by age

What the child is doing Set size
Pulling up to stand, first steps (~9–14 months) 3 elements — a step, a ramp, a block
Walking confidently, starting to climb (~1.5–2 years) 5–6 elements — enough to build two different routes
Building their own courses (2–4 years) 8 elements — arches and tunnels enter the game

Why soft play and not a climbing frame

Soft play is the equipment for the stage before a child can safely use anything else. There is nothing to fall from, nothing hard to land on, and nothing that stays where the child does not put it.

A wooden climbing frame comes later — usually from three, when a child has the balance for a rung.

What the certifications mean

  • CE — the manufacturer declares the product meets EU safety requirements
  • EN 71 — the specific European toy safety standard, covering mechanical properties, flammability and chemical content

For anything a small child climbs on and puts their mouth against, both are worth checking rather than assuming.

Cleaning

Covers come off and machine wash at 30 °C. Wipe the foam with a damp cloth and let it dry fully before the cover goes back on — foam that is still damp inside a cover is the one way these sets go wrong.

What to look at

Frequently asked questions

How many pieces should a soft play set have?

Three elements are enough for a first climber around one year old — a step, a ramp and a block cover everything they can do. From about two, most children have worked out what a small set offers; 6 and 8 piece sets keep giving them new arrangements.

From what age can a child use soft play?

From the moment they pull themselves up to standing, usually around nine to twelve months. Soft play is specifically the equipment for the stage before a child can safely climb anything else.

What do CE and EN 71 mean on a soft play set?

CE is the manufacturer's declaration that the product meets EU safety requirements. EN 71 is the specific European standard for toy safety — it covers mechanical properties, flammability and chemical content.

How do you clean soft play blocks?

The covers come off and machine wash at 30 °C. Wipe the foam itself with a damp cloth and let it dry fully before putting the cover back on.
