A 3-element set is enough for a first climber around one year old. From about two, most children have worked out everything a small set can do — that is when 6 and 8 piece sets start earning their space.

Why soft play and not a climbing frame
Soft play is the equipment for the stage before a child can safely use anything else. There is nothing to fall from, nothing hard to land on, and nothing that stays where the child does not put it.
A wooden climbing frame comes later — usually from three, when a child has the balance for a rung.
What the certifications mean
- CE — the manufacturer declares the product meets EU safety requirements
- EN 71 — the specific European toy safety standard, covering mechanical properties, flammability and chemical content
For anything a small child climbs on and puts their mouth against, both are worth checking rather than assuming.
Cleaning
Covers come off and machine wash at 30 °C. Wipe the foam with a damp cloth and let it dry fully before the cover goes back on — foam that is still damp inside a cover is the one way these sets go wrong.
